Kind of pricey, but looks like it does the job.

I know I could get in some trouble actually BUILDING an ar, but how deep of poo could I get into buying a complete lower and a complete upper?

I know it wouldent be as cheap as buying a complete rifle, but that way I would pretty much get the exact rifle I want.

My friend has me under the impression ar's are like legos, so its my beleif that I could do that pretty easily?

Buying complete uppers, and complete lowers isn't really building an AR... But yes, the best part of that would be the ability to control the parts and setup you want. You WILL spend more.

If you are truly on a budget Like you say. Just get into a A3 flat top, shoot it, and then decide what you really want to change. If you want Magpul gear, get it. If you want a certain free float quar rail, then get it. There is no way you would know what you really want if you've never had one.

So from what Ive read ARs chambered for 5.56 will shoot .223 fine but it can be dangerous to go the other way around?

But if that's the route I go, I shouldent have any compatability/shootability issues would I? What brands..if any, should I try to steer clear of?

Correct. Although it's hard to find one only chambered in .223 anymore.

No it should work just fine. Just stick with reputable companies for both. Yankee Hill Machine makes good uppers (but can be pricey). Bravo Company sells good uppers. (but pricey) What are you looking to get exactly that you think you NEED to get a separate upper and lower? I want to know what you are looking for.

I know, it looks like an ar isn't in the budget unless we get a lot more snow. So now it's looking like a pump 12ga. General consensus is remington 870 is the one to have, and has most aftermarket support. Going shopping after work

Its more of a tactical budgeting/plan rather than feeling the need to buy the two halves seperate. I can get a real good deal on a sabre defense lower, seems too good to pass up. And 800$ would burn a huge hole in my pocket, id probably give in one day real bored one day amd hlow it all on who knows what

However, if I buy half a rifle.. Thatd be my incentive/commitment to save my pennies and buy the other half. Makes sense in my head

yes. The 5.56 is a NATO round. the case walls are actually thicker and the pressures are higher in that than the .223 are. But the bullets themselves are the same. There's just more power in the 5.56mm. So the chambers are not built to withstand the case pressures in a .223 of a 5.56. Like nate said though, it's hard to actually find a .223 chambered usually. Most that you find will be 5.56 anyway. Just take that extra 2 seconds and look though because there is always the chance that you'll want to throw some lake city ammo through it or something and it wouldn't particularly be a good idea in a .223. I think I explained it well enough.

I have a NICE FN police shotgun, might be for sale soon ATI top folder, shell holder, and the factory stock comes with it,plus its a factory 7+1,all parkerized.....not the AR looking one,its basicly a "tuned" Winchester 1300,it is the best operating pump I have ever used. Ive put around 75 rounds thru it. I bought it new about 11 years ago. Ill post a couple pics later. I hate to sell it,but was offered another deal that Id hate to pass up more. I have $500 in it,Id take that, and ill throw in a box of 25 LE low recoil slugs. I haven't seen another one around here.

Bought a spikes tactical st15 lower receiver, complete, has a windham weaponry collapsable stock.

Now I just gotta find an upper I like
