Union Fairground RallyCross

its pretty much off at this point, but stay tuned...if anything pops up im sure Kat can get it to us in a hurry.
Ah crap. Too bad they pulled that siht. The NER-SCCA was guaranteed easy money for them every year for them party poopers. Def not worth the effort or $$ after the whole Fire Marshall crap and now this. Thank you for trying Kat. It was wicked nice while it lasted.

What about the Topsham Fair grounds?? They had a demolition derby this year. Why not a rally-x. Just tossin ideas. Looks like rally-x is dead in Maine now.

we have locations up north that could be explored but there is ZERO interest in the organization to come up here.

i guess we aren't covered in the NE part or NER.

I was really looking forward to the union rallyx too. I want to play in the dirt and not worry about traffic or ditches or trees.

i'll ask

open to other suggestions. contact me if you have leads on other places. Rez you know what the issue is, and stop *****ing, I don't see you driving to CT:rant:

i have attended 3 events at stafford springs...and countless events in NH.

they say there wouldnt be any interest in members coming up this far. that is short sighted to potential new members that could be had in northern maine.

i had convinced 7 people here in the bangor area to attend the union event. and they are interested in rallycrossing in general. what is there motivation to join the NER/SCCA as residents of northern maine if there aren't any events in our home state?

i know i haven't had a membership for the NER in two years. this is because of other interests. take that for what its worth.

Maine is still a part of the NER, lets not rule out locations just because the "regulars" dont want to travel up here.

Maybe someone could try the Franklin County Farirgrounds, the fair is there this week. If to late this year maybe next. They have a huge dirt parking area, the track would be out because of granite and rises for truck pulling. I can try to get a phone # for someone.

I live in Chesterville. I was just at the Demolition Derby in Farmington last night. I don't think they would let rallyx'ers use the horse track because they have it all prettied up with light posts, decorative gardens and fences and shista. They may let us use the huge ass parking lot though. I prolly won't drive in this because I'm affraid my bad luck with my new black rex would catch up with me, and I don't have mud flaps yet. I would definitely want to watch this though! Too bad I just sold my 91 4WD Jeep. Hmmm... I do have a modded 97 Grand Am with a blown strut... have to think about that I guess.

I used to work at a farm in Cape Elizabeth. I don't know if anyone has ever approached they about rallies. I don't forsee them being willing to do it in the summer, but I think winter rallies might be something possible. I can get contact info if someone wants to contact them.

last year turn out was so low we lost money. and it has gotten smaller every year. the point is the event does need to break even at the very least. I had to work to convince Scott Union would work 5 years ago, he didn't think it would because it was too far north. Part of the reason O'Neil's is no longer is because folks didn't want to travel to Northern NH

the closer to 95 the better the site. if you can find something within 10 min of 95 we have a better chance of getting folks there. what have you found up there that will definitely host an event? I will come up myself to check it out if you can get someone on the hook.

So here's your mission, find me a site up your way that is big enough and we can afford it, $1K or under for the weekend, and I will come up to check it out. GO!!!!!!

speedway 95 parking lot.

they have a new board of directors who understand they need to generate revenue. i had an "in" last summer but he is no longer in the area.

let me try and rekindle the idea.

topsham fair grounds is less then a minute off 295 and i think brillant motors does all the scheduling for the fair grounds they have had demolition derbys there and have also had redneck truck pulls so it should not be a big problem

I've always wanted to have a rallyx at beechridge motor speedway parking lot. In 2002 when I first had my bugeye Rex I took a swing through there oneday it is very smooth with a few hills and bumps. Is this a opion?thoughts? I have no clue but I would think they must be almost done forthe season.

I asked Scott about it once, he said it was too close to the (main) road. Also asked about the overflow lot at Scarborough Downs, he said there were hidden pipes and whatnot. *shrug*

It's too bad, Downs would be perfect. We would have a nice big lot to play in, nice paved service area, and it's all of 1/4 mile off of 95. Real close to food as well. I think I need to meander out there and check for some of these "hidden" objects. I've driven all over that lot, I've never seen anything. Hell...I could even bring my tractor to help smooth out the course every now and then.
