if I remember its a common occurance for them to crack.

The 2000 to 2001 heads had the casting code of 0331. Those were the ones that crack like clockwork. One of the reasons I bought a 1999 was for the 0630 head. A lot of good that did me....

I'm sure it can be done... The bell housing unbolts from the ea82, so you could probably make something that worked. The point of mating a sub par engine to a crappy 3speed auto is beyond me though...
