Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

To deal with melee you should learn to position yourself better. Sweep out wider around corners in order to get more shots off (increasing distance = more time for you to kill them), use steady aim so you can spray and pray, etc. Melee has never been a big deal for me. If you corner camp, it's very easy for them to turn the corner and boop your dead.

I actually play with a different button layout, control stick is dive and B is melee. I cannot quick melee because I'd have to move my thumb off the stick to the B button, too inefficient, so I've learned to use the guns to do the lifting.

^I know this, but I'm just talking melee in general. If you watch the killcam at all when someone melees, it looks so retarded and unrealistic. It's like they morph right in front of you in a split second.

Bah I needa stop ranting

Speaking of sniper rifles, they suck too in this game. I can start a rant on those too

Damn this game is addicting, but pisses me off so much at the same time.

great success yesterday!

had a FFA on rust and realized it was the perfect opp to unlock ninja pro (50 close range kills using ninja, i had been working on it before and gave up for awhile). marathon/lightweight/ninja with mini uzi/magnum with tact knife. ran around and stabbed like a mofo. 18 kills, 17 of which were with the knife. 1 was a sweet magnum kill

that's similar to what I use on the tighter maps. Marathon pro, lightweight pro, commando pro, UMP or whatever 'light' I feel like luggin around. You can out run people trying to get a bead on you. Even if you're hit keep running. Watch the radar and run and stab the nearest dot.

Barrett is the only one worth using. The old game snipers were better.
I use the EB21(?). Very little kick. I go with the thermal and silencer. You can still see the "cold blooded" girls, just not as well, gotta watch for their movement. My son does very well with the 50 and the Acog scope. I agree, it seems MW2 requires more shots to drop someone. Might be just me, though, I am using the silencers more now.

I can not for the life of me get used to Akimo anything. I try them then switch the set-up for something more inski friendly, then get waxed by the other Akimo users.

Game really pissed me off tonight.
I thought the system has some kind of favoritive ratio thing going on. Sometimes you are GOD. Sometimes you get pounded all evening long. For awhile I thought the longer you stayed with a group the better the killin got due to the computer favoring the people that stayed in the longest. Now I think its just luck of the draw. Sometimes my lil ole M4 wrecks people with one shot and the opponent needs to hit me 10 times...sometimes I need to hit the opponent 10 times and the guy with the .45 only needs to hit me once. I end up taking breaks for 3-4 days, then the killin begins again. haha

When it (I) start suckin for an extended period I switch things around and try new set-ups. Find new ways to use rockets. Find odd ball places to snipe. You dont need a sniper rifle to snipe. Find ways to lure people into the hornet's nest. Spend a game or two just sticking Semtex to people. Drop grenades when you're running from an aggressor, or stick Semtexs to door ways. Blow up barrels or cars people hide behind. You will die a lot, but it teaches you to get close and its fun as hell.

certain times your connection can make a huge difference. on my screen i'll see myself stabbing someone, or shooting them, but in the kill cam (IMO this must be what actually happened) i'll see that i never even brought my knife out, or they ducked behind a wall before I shot them or something

Funny story about that. The game uses client hosting, IW made it so call of duty assigns host to someone in the game, so some fat greasy dude in NY will be hosting the game on his box, and it lags like ess for you. Host has an advantage, and generally if one of the guys I play with pulls host, they'll make sure they take advantage of it.

^Yeah I hate how this game doesn't have dedicated servers.... stupidest thing ever.

This might be a newb question, but how do you know if you are hosting the game? Or who is hosting the game?

financially, where it costs nothing to play online, client hosting is the best option for the game maker. if they were charging monthly then they'd better sink some of that into dedicated servers, but for now i figure this is the best option.
