I'm not sure about tire size, could go bigger. But it would be annoying with gearing. It's pretty good where it is now. I don't know what size diameter they are, but they're 205/75/14
They measure about 26, maybe a little more. You could fit a little bigger on there, but then you are running into not having enough power to turn them.
I did some serious upgrades today... I put on a.... new air filter!! hah.
I have been contemplating how to do a FWD lo mod though. And since I don't feel like dealing with linkages I've had some different ideas. I'm gonna find some electric actuator and use it to move the FWD lever on the transmission. Just have a switch on the dash.
It better be a rugged actuator thingymabob, that rod takes a good amount of force to move, that still means you'll need to remove a section of linkage. I actually took mine out cause I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted to, so it's back to stock now
I don't think I'd crawl up under there to take the linkage out, I'd probably just tie it off or something. heh.
I was thinking it would probably take a lot of force. Seeing as how the stub out of the transmission is only about 1/2" long.
My other option to use is a cable system. I have the shutoff cable from a diesel and it's pretty rugged. I could rig it up to push or pull the lo range arm. I basically want anything that isn't messing with linkages, and I know I'll find something.
It's easy to remove it. Just pop the hood and undo that end, and then pop out the shifter trim etc. and do that end from there. Not too bad to take out.
I was picking up this boat of mine because the deck came apart last week... And my boat trailer is about 30 miles away being loaned to someone. So I figured I'd hitch the double axle flatbed up to my GL and see how it went
It went great! Backing it up and down my very steep very windy driveway was fun, but easier than a smaller trailer because the huge wheelbase. I think the wheelbase from the back wheels to the trailer wheels was greater than from the back wheels to the front wheels of the car ...
I'd try to haul a car! EJ swap might be in order first though... it would definitely be interesting.
So since I'm leaving for Ontario in a big camper and won't be back until very late the 3rd, I decided my car needed some attention so it didn't miss me so much... Cleaned and vacuumed the interior, pressure washed the outside and underderside. Filled up with gas and parked in the shady spot in my driveway. Next my legacy gets the same attention.
