The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

Just bought a new pair of shoes. Specialized Comps. So excited to not have to wear my 10 year old shoes that did not fit well at all. Now bike needs to get fixed and I am good to go.

Shoes?

I don't wear shoes doing pretty much anything... My feet can tell you all about that...

Nice - I remember you talking about the old shoes not fitting well LAST season.

Any word on that fork rebuild?

I am droppping it off this week, hopefully it is just the lock out thing that Ted said. If not, will get it rebuilt, and tuned up, possibly a new cassette and chain. Then I will be back in business.

Old shoes were about .5 size too small, and my toes would kill when I got done. So these new ones fit well, and much more comfortable.

In the meantime, I will probably do some road riding, as long as it is not raining.

+1 - give me a call if you want to go!

pm me your digits. If we meet at my house, it is a good start to cruise down through scarborough and Cape. As mentioned last week, road riding in Portland sucks donkey ass.

Possible after-work ride on Friday, weather permitting. Details are sketchy, as I may be out of work as early as 3:30 and as late as 5.

I can not make Friday. Celebrating mothers day since she is leaving the country on Saturday. And, no bike.

Update on bike: Ted, looks like the shock is fine, just the lock out mechanism is f'd. So he is going to find a part that unlocks it permanent. Then a tune and possible new cassette.. Should have back by end of next week.

I sort of need a new cassette for mine... just having a hard time finding one with the same gear ratios as my current one.

Sweeeet! That's cheaper than a new fork for sure!

I might be able to make a Friday early evening ride (4:30ish). Expect to bring your PFD. Congin might be dry-ish, tho.

Most cassettes for mtbs are 11-30 or 11-32 these days. If you're looking for older ratios (11-28), check Price Point online or Bath Cycle in woolich.

Anyone running the Sea Dogs Mother's Day 5K sunday?

Just got back from a 23 mile ride, and the last mile I had a nasty squeak... grrr, I need to track that down after I take a shower...

I went for a little ride at Riverton Trolley Park today. First ride of the year

I'm working off the winter weight still, but the ride went nice!

I'm taking the road bike out this evening (Monday) for about an hour. Drop me a PM or a call if you want to come along. Probably 5:45ish, for about an hour.
