The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

Where are good bike riding trails in acadia? 3 friends and I are going up for a week, and if we can find a way, taking our bikes. (somehow planning on bringing 4 bikes and enough firewood for a week, not to mention all us and all our crap in my car...)

But if there are any good trails, we'll definitely try harder to bring our bikes.

In the park its all carriage roads. They're beautiful but they are flat dirt roads.

The hiking trails are off limits to bikers. When the park isn't busy I used to sneak on and ride them, because they're epic. But you get in do-do for doing it!

Yea, I have actually ridden on those off season. It is a pretty damn good time, I blew a tire and broke my helmet

But I didn't know where it was legal to ride... Some of the people in my group might max out for ability on the carriage trails though... so we might take bikes along for the heck of it.

I know mikebike has a headset press if you don't.
Thanks Pedro. Bike is actually at shop. Hopefully they tuned it already, so thety can put this shock on and I can ride this weekend. Need to try out new shock and new shoes...

I'm riding tomorrow if anyone else is interested. I'll be doing the river trail area from my work up to oat nuts and back. With some of the offshoots if i feel good. It's only my second ride of the year so my pace will be normal and i'll probably stop to stretch a lot.

I'd love to with you tomorrow, Andy...but my schedule is being stoopid. I'm hoping to hit Bradbury with the pup Sunday morning if the weather cooperates if anyone wants to come along.

I'm doing four 10-hour days with Fridays off this summer, so I should be able to ride more and more

Bike is done, big props to Cliff at EMS. Dropped shock off at 11 this morning and he just called to say it is all set. Now I got to find time to ride. Anyone up for morning ride tomorrow?

I just started riding again and my ass hurts bad.

jeesh.. only like 20 miles or so by now.. but ouch..

2 years out of the saddle ain't good.

I am leaving in 15 minutes... Looks like a solo ride.. HAHAHAHA

Hopefully we all can plan a ride this week... Monday I am out, playing hockey in the am...

Where you riding?
I was joking, it was almost midnight and I was a few drinks in. So no riding this weekend. BBQ today, baby duty tonight, hockey tomorrow, BBQ tomorrow afternoon....

Tuesday ride?????

I'm out for Tuesday - work then class.

For anyone that wants to, I'm headed to Bradbury with doggums for a 9AM ride. Prolly be in the saddle for two hours or so. It'll be a relaxed pace, as I'm still getting Rowdy used to long-distance trotting.

Ty? You gonna be back from CT in time?

If anyone has an old bike that they don't want, I'm looking for a bike to make into a motorized bike.

It doesn't have to be in the best shape in terms of brakes, rust, etc. I'm pretty good at working on bikes. It just needs to have a frame with no rear shock and a good sized triangle.

If you have been wondering what to do with that old beater bike in your garage, wonder no longer!

I've just finished rebuilding my mtb and i'm looking to do some rides. Prepping for the 24hrs of Big Bear on June 13/14 and I want to test out the new bits to make sure she's shifting ok.

I second the props to Cliff @ EMS... had him chase the threads on my BB before i put in the new BB. Turned it around in a day.

Anyone up for the Cape/SoPo trails or maybe get ShagginWagon to lead another "All Over Portland" ride (less the rain this time) with a stop at that fancy pants beer place downtown?
