The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

Ride it like you stole it!!
sounds like a plan, i do a ton or road riding during the week, and so far i haven't gone too crazy on it. the bike was kinda low end ($450) but i dealt with the same salespeople i have been since i was 12 so thye set me up as best they could on my budget at the time. i want to say the fork is an xcm or something, i don't have time to go look, but my last bike had rock shox and shimano deore components, and over the course of the 5 years i rode it daily i wore out almost everything (it was before i got my license) my intentions with this one are ride it till it breaks and upgrade whatever does break, but i've lost forks mid ride before and it wasn't fun. i may just save my pennies and put this fork on the womans bike since hers is siezed:idk:

Let's pencil in a River ride for Wednesday depending on weather and interest. Some of you other guys (Andrew?) in for that?
*****! Wife's birthday, and I totally forgot until this moment. Any chance we could do Tuesday instead?

I just checked the Rage site and it seems that the TNR is on the Falmouth Trails. I'd be up for riding the river trail instead. Closer for me.

as for buying a new fork... I was shopping for a 29er fork and found ebay to be a good place for new (or take-off forks)... also www.bikebling.com is pretty cheap and they are still running the 10% off deal with coupon code REALDEAL.

I got my new Fox F29 RLC from a local bike shop. It was a takeoff from a frame/fork order and the customer wanted a carbon rigid fork instead. Got a sweet deal.

i was going to check rainbow in auburn and rodgers in scarborough, take down prices and check ebay and jensonusa.com to see how competitive prices were. no matter what i think i'll go that route, becaue when we were out the other day it was driving her nuts

ON another note... anyone riding tonite?
I am, but it'll be more of a shakedown ride than a fitness/speed ride. I was planning to go find the trailhead where the Rage guys are going, or find the trailhead for the River trail. I've never ridden either, and I want to GPS both before the end of the summer.

I'm doing the Rage thing tonight, then hoping to take out a mellow/newbie ride tomorrow at the river. 530ish if anyone is interested.

I'll do Falmouth tonight, then...if only to say hi to folks

The Rage ride is pretty laid back. I don't think you'll have issues. There are plenty of breaks to let people catch up.... and then Ted gets the wheels turning again. He's like a slave driver...

www.mybikemechanic.com

I don't know if I am supposed to do this.

I know this guy, he grew up in my town. He worked for L.L.Bean for years, then went to (I don't exactly remember the name) Performance Sports?? They closed up and he started his own place. He is a straight shooter. He knows his stuff. If you go there, please tell him I sent you. It won't get you discounts or special treatment, but I would like him to know I'm trying to help him out.

BTW.... I'm John Field from Rangeley, for those that don't know.

Jimbo... That ride last night was a beast.
Well, last year I was diagnosed with "exercise-induced asthma" - a condition that I didn't believe in, frankly. I think I had my first asthma attack about a quarter-mile in. I'm not sure, but it felt like someone was grabbing my throat, and it was impossible to get enough air to continue. I'm glad I had the inhaler thing with me, but I'd much rather have been spinning with everyone.

On another note, I'm not sure you caught my epic tumble roll...at least I got it out of my system early in the season
