The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

I saw, what I think was, the ShagginWagon in the Bradbury parking lot on Saturday... Blue leggy GT wagon w/ bike mounts on the roof rack??
That's the one! There was another GT there too- white unLimited- but the guy left before I had a chance to say hi.

Did you head over to the race? It was unbelievable! Kick ass course, really well organized. The solo and two person teams put on a good show. Top men's solo did 12 laps (120mi)! We turned in a respectable 10 laps (4 person team)- I got to finish it out with a night lap which rocked.

Sweeeeet! I didn't check out the race. I completely forgot that it was going on. We met up with friends to hike w/ babies around the boundary trail.

with babes? schweet. short shorts?

you pedophile.

I just sucked down 600mg of ibuprofin to see if my back feels any better. I'll mountain bike again!!! I swear!!!

and if that doesn't work... I think I have some oxycodone leftover from my kidney stone incident...

THAT will do the trick.

dude... you're not allowed to take vacation... I had a fedex package that was delivered at 8:40am... it got to my desk by 3pm!!!! WTF! It was only a replacement phone for our CEO.

haha hey with adam doing my job. you should feel lucky you got it today little less this week! i can't tell you how many people that i told i was off this week who were like oh raisin.

what is everyone going to do when i get my transfer. haha

oh and... bikes and stuff.

go full carbon. Try the Giant TCR compact road frames. I really like Because it"S responsive, it's a great climber, and it's pretty light. did you do the whole computer analysis fit guide at Gorham?

yeah I was pretty impressed with that system. I am used to the old school adjustabike deal. The Giant I rode as actually a Medium frame (not sure the measurement on that one). Granted I didn't ride long as I just got over Fewd poisoning and I wasn't quite up to par again.

Bike, 2001? Giant NRS1, Bianchi Giro, and a beat up Moongoose Iboc(1995)

Any group rides? Mountain biking prefered.

I'll be riding again come spring. Too snowy out there now.

I like the Giant roadbike. Take the money you save over the orbea and get some Mavic wheels. Then sign up for the Trek Across Maine!

I'm also sort of a sucker for the Specialized Allez. Lot of value for the money IMHO.

My Giant TCR is a medium/long frame. Remember too that the computer sizing is a guideline... They tried to put me on a straight up medium frame and I was like "no way sucka!!!" I was hanging over the front wheel it was so small.

Wheels make a huge difference.... My TCR C2 came with Mavix Aksium which is the cheapest of that line of Mavics... still, they're awesome and are still true after about 1500 miles.

The Mrs. has a Specialized Allez Comp columbus tubing and is a VERY comfortable bike to ride... We picked it up at Beans back when they used to have good bikes.

I have a Specialized Allez Sport. Good bike. Ultegra Components, hubs, crank set and whatnot. Nice ride for a day trip if you don't need/want to carry anything. Would like to get something to take through the woods though. Anxious to get out and ride again. Its been a couple of years since I've done much. Definitely up for a group ride once I get back in shape. (and it stops snowing)

Biking will have to wait to till Spring. I don't ride in the winter. So when spring rolls around, I can be reminder of how out of shape I am..

Pedro - try the Giant Medium/Long frame... It's nice because it's not as huge as a Large but not as small as a Medium.

I need to overhaul my MTB. Waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can work out in the garage without my fingers going numb.

Definitely will do.

I honestly have been tempted to pick up a 55cm Motobecane Messenger (singlespeed) for $350 just to make sure that I really want to ride on the road before I dump a b-load into a geared rig.

does this seem like a bad idea?

It's tough to go on a 50 mile road ride on a single speed. They're great for running to the video store, commuting to work, around town, etc... but not for long road rides.

If you don't wanna drop the big bucks hit up one of the online vendors and pick up a cheapie road bike for like $500. Ride it this summer and see if you like road riding... then come september pick up a new 2008 carbon road bike that's on 30% off closeout sale and sell off the $500 or keep it for your winter beater.
