The unofficial GUN talk thread

shooting is fun, but expensive.

I've made my 1022 into an awesome plinking piece, looks kinda like an ar, at a fraction of the cost.

and for $20 i can have 450 rounds of awesomeness.

that is why I am getting tha .22 conversion for my AR best of both worlds

Lonewolf makes great barrels. And if you own a .40 Glock you could always grab a conversion barrel (and a couple 9mm mags)and shoot 9mm to save some money.

Looks like the Lone Wolf barrels are ~$110 each. I will probably go that route, so I can take the aftermarket barrel out and let it soak and still be able to use the gun with the stock barrel.

It's either that or trade the Glocks in for Springfields. Or maybe just buy both lol.

Changing up my AR again a bit. Decided to change to a Troy VTAC/Alpha rail. Gonna save my (heavier) free float Yankee Hill quad rail for my next upper build. It will be in 300 blackout and I'll probably want the heavier rail on that bigger recoiling round. Plus it will leave me rail space for a bipod.

Also picked up a Geissele SSA trigger group. Stoked!

alright all of you gun buffs. now, every year i have to qualify with the m4. now i'm not gunna go buy an m4, nor do i really want to buy an ar-15. I want something that i can practice my fundamentals with and get about the same kind of experience with recoil etc without breaking the bank.

anything you guys have in mind?

cheaper ammo is also a plus

They make anything to change trigger pull for ar? Can't seem find anything
There are about a million replacement trigger groups out there for AR15s. Geissele makes some of the best drop in replacements out there. They makes about a dozen different setups. Just get ready to open your wallet. There are some cheaper ones out there too though.

Without recoil, marlin model 60. get one used for about a hundred, 22 ammo is $20 for 550 rounds

Out with the old in with the new... shaved off a bunch of weight.

I went with the longer Troy for a preference on my long arm shooting style. Needed to go out longer. Plus the weight savings. Need to get the barrel nut swapped to finish the install. I'll wait till my trigger shows up tomorrow to do the smithing on both. Pics to come.

Very nice. We took my cousin AR shopping yesterday, he decided on a Stag model 8, gas piston one. We put about 50 rounds through it, and the trigger stopped resetting. Push it forward or flip the safety it would reset. I'm betting it was the trigger disconnect, a burr or something. He brought it back, they changed out the trigger parts (his words) and problem solved. I've heard that it's a problem with the Stag triggers so if anyone is in the market just be aware. Otherwise very nice rifle he's very happy with it.

Sounds like the disconnector is out of spec to me. Hanging up. What was his reasoning on spending a few hundred more on a piston over DI?

just bought the ,22 conversion the mag that came with it is hard to put in,and hard to pull out anyone know if this is common proublem? also installed a gunfighter charging handle love this gun

Put it in the freezer over night then see if it fits better. Sounds like its just a bit too big.

Nate is that a free float? Whats that for an optic? Aimpoint? I had the Mbus sights on my original ver. of my AR. I liked them a lot. My youngest son put Troy battle sights (fixed) on his. They are really nice but they aren't foldable. I have a feeling he's going to regret his choice because now he's talking about optics

Muddy, where did your cousin get the Stag? Sounds like awesome customer service. My oldest son is shopping around for ARs. They got anything mil-spec in the 600-700 range?
