The unofficial GUN talk thread

Ok, I'm going to seriously plan a trip tot he range for some time in Jan. We can figure out a good weekend after the holiday comes and goes finally. Looks like a weekend/Sunday works well for everyone.
As long as it's not the 15-16th (rallycross), I'll be good.

I did the slide and the recoil plate with a Birchwood Casey kit, and it turned out quite well. Think I'll pull the gun apart again laster in the week and do everything.

You can see how much nicer the slide looks compared to the rest of the receiver on the left...

Same with the recoil plate.

Got a VZ58 with blonde furniture and a VZ61 Scorpion pistol for christmas. Both shoot nice, the 58 only weighs 6 lbs! not bad for an AK patterned rifle... The 61 shoots beautifully, without a single hiccup. Accurate too!

Weee, 200 smackeroos at Fulton Armory later, and she's gonna be a new-ish gun. New walnut stock and handguard, front sight, rear sight, bolt lockback pin, blah blah blah. Wanted a new stock to get rid of the big hole that was cut out from the old one for the goofy rear sight that was on there, that was the most expensive bit.

Are you putting holes in anything this weekend?

Thanks G! You are welcome to shoot either of them when we get together for the NH indoor range trip...

Looks like a fantastic Christmas present.

High praise on the web about those VZ 58s. Looks great.

Saw Ty at Cabela's today. He caught me purchasing a VZ 24.

I got a couple pics coming in a minute.

Nice! can't wait for the pics!

The 58 is amazing to shoot, and so light that it feels strange on the shoulder. It groups better than anything I own currently... though most of them are AK's

Yep, I seen you! I almost picked up an Enfield that was in the rack next to you, but I promised myself that I was just after oil and ammo.

Got approx 15% off the Mauser VZ 24 using the employee discount offer card Cabela's sent me in the mail. They had a k98 also but this one was much nicer shape and came with a bayonet.

So when you take down your five zombies with headshots, you can switch to stabbing them from out of biting range. Good plan, I like your thinking!

Something like that. Nah, This will be my youngest son's rifle and he likes the old stuff and likes it to be complete and authentic...except he's already put a syn Monte Carlo style stock on his Mosin. I'm glad he did. Pretty sure this VZ 24 will remain 100% stock. He's also been lookin hard at CZ 82s and Makarovs. He's a natural for taking apart and fixing and upgrading little thngs likes guns. You should see what he did with an Autococker Paintball gun. It shoots 30/second.

I went today and they had a nice Mitchell Mauser in the new gun rack behind the counter(not in the library) didn't see the price, but I'm sure it was over by a lot.

They had a PS90 in the library a week ago with 2 mags and no box, used, for $1995

Still can't figure out why they charge so much. A BRAND NEW one is $1250...................
