The unofficial GUN talk thread

A car forum with a GUN thread???? Nice,I cant believe I haven't seen this one yet..... pics soon. Me like assault weapons.

If anyone is interested in the central ME area (we're in Litchfield),we have a 300 yard range out back,be open again in early spring. Its a run-what-you-brung site, nothing fancy. lot of guys show up with AKs,couple guys have old Dragunovs, one has an actual Tiger,Ive got a few ARs,one Ar-10 sass,6 or 7 AKs,some old enfields(just found a jungle carbine for 80 bucks!),couple MACs,a J&R m38 carbine (look that one up!), DE .50,HK USP tactical .45,Thompson 1928,mp45,tec-9, 2 saiga 12s, Saiga pistol grip AK,FN police shotgun, plus a lot more, the disease goes on and on...we have a LOT of fun down there. All we ask is that people use their brain, and wait their turn to shoot. Pretty scary when you're looking downrange through your scope, and something goes boom right beside you... if theres enough interest, there could be a Suby meet/shooting afternoon/BBQ sometime.

Doh! Willpowerz, I lacks them.

Yea, I stopped and looked at it a few times. Box of 20 Sellier and Bellot went for $19.99. Stock was replaced at some point, has a 1943 stamp on it vs the metal bits which are 1941. I was surprised to find the oiler still in the back of the stock though.

Sounds like fun!

Inski talk to me about that syn stock for the Mosin. And is the 7.62x54R still easy to find and cheap?

Im quite sure I looked at that rifle the other night at cabelas, while waiting for J covey to get home so I could grab my blower motor off him... My no 4 is badly sporterized,I couldn't get over the condition that one was in. I knew it was nice when my wife said "that's UGLY) She's kind of partial to her Bushmaster. Ill go home tonight and snap a bunch of toy pics.

It's in pretty nice shape, I'm happy with it. There's some pitting now that I've inspected the inside of the barrel, but I don't think it will affect the accuracy at all. Only one way to tell...probably will have to wait until spring though.

Yea, it was probably this one. The only other Enfield I've seen over there recently was a no.4

My son got it at Cabelas. You will have to trim a little along the fore grip so the barrel can drop in. I thought the Mosin felt pretty good in wood. I thought the syn stock would make it yucky, but it made it much nicer to should and the squishy butt is a big plus, protecting this crusty coot from the 54R wallop.

We were having bolt stick form some of the various ammo brands but found Sellier Bellot to be the cheapest and never gave us bolt stick. They come in soft point for hunting and fmj. KTP also had a few boxes in their discount bin that also worked very well for us for $15. We found the Sellier Bellot at G3 Firearms in Turner for $12/box. Then we found a can of Polish surplus at the No.Conway Army Barracks store for $75 for 330rnds (i think). That works in the gun very well also, no bolt stick, but its corrosive and needs to be cleaned extra good after each use. Luke says Maine Military Supply in Brewer has surplus and can get whatever you want, I was there during thanksgiving but can't remember if they had any or not. Worth a call. The PRVI from Cabelas resulted in bolt stick. The PRVI I got for the .303 resulted in bullets hitting the targets sideways, every bullet. I'm avoiding PRVI from now on.

Cure for Mosin Nagant bolt stick..

We haven't done much of that but I suppose I will once we use up the surplus and get back into the bolt sticky stuff and can't find Sellier stuff. We have smoothed out some of the sharper channels and the sharp angle near the rear of the bolt handle, right as you bump up the handle and start to draw it back. Regardless of the ammo it all shot very accurately. I was amazed for $99 gun that's 70 years old. The surplus has less kick.

Sort of out of place here I guess. Seeing as though Im the only one posting up auto handguns but.... heres another. Glock 23RTF (rough textured frame) (40S&W)

Ive added a custom slide plate, extended slide release, extended slide stop, and smooth trigger off a Glock 17. Its riding in a Kydex trigger guard for nightstand use.

And heres a pic of my Glock 17 in its home defense setup. With Glock 33rnd mag, and Streamlight TLR-1. Its getting Tru Glo TFO (tritium fiber optic) night sights this week. And the G23 will be getting Trijicon brand night sights soon too.

Why do you have a 33rd clip for home defense? They both look great Nate, when's the Mainely shootind day being planned?

Why not? Haha. No reloading needed. Actually its more of a novelty, and if they ever resign the hi cap magazine ban, I'll already have them. I plan to buy a couple more.

Shooting day should be soon.

I too have a 33rd mag for my G19.......novelty

And if I run out of ammo, I can still take the mag out and use it as a billy club
