The unofficial GUN talk thread

Just started the biggest, most serious, gun project ever for me. We're converting our Saiga 308 to a more comfortable user friendly AK configuration.

*Magpul adjustable stock

*Performance hammer and trigger

*Moving the entire trigger group forward

*Pistol grip

*low profile scope mount

*illume cross hairs scope

After pics hopefully by the end of this weekend.

Is a 20 rnd mag for a semi-auto .308 excessive?

Well, this thing is pretty fun right away at like 1-3 shots, but 20 non-stop kerbooms might be euphoric. Is it ok to enter the State of Euphoria while lettin off 20 quick ones with this Russian bad larry?

nope. That's standard on a FAL. (Which is a blast to shoot btw) There's something quite satisfying about shooting off 20 .308 rounds. (my friend and I took down a tree with one mag each. It leaned over quite hard but wouldn't come all the way down so we dug out the 45-70. :-)

A 100 round drum wouldent be excessive

I REEEAALLLYYYYYY want an ak. Im actually contemplating trading my pistol in that I just bought with some cash so I can definitely get one before another ban is enacted :/

Thoughts?

I have an original pistol grip 7.62x39 saiga AK...it is available for reference if you run into any problems,Id be interested to see this in progress,Im thinking of doing the same to my Saiga-12...If I remember right, you built an uzi...so I wouldnt forsee any serious problems. Also,20 rounds is the bare minimum capacity for any AK type rifle being used for fun.

Also,I have a 50 and 100 rd drum for my Thompson....ridiculous fun levels. If only I smoked cigars and had a striped suit......

Help me decide between buying an AR10 (.308), and building a new AR15 lower, and topping it off with a 7.62x39 upper.... I keep going back and forth.
If you guys want to shoot sometime,Ill let you try my AR-10 its a carry handle Armalite, but I love it.The Micky comp is awesome.Hardly any recoil, plus itll knock your buddies hats off if they stand beside you...

Thanks I appreciate that. I think after some research and contemplation. I have decided on a 300blk (300aac) upper build. The fun starts soon... It will fit my needs completely for hunting. And with the money I save by building this upper over buying a whole new rifle, I can score a new optic for the upper and a new trigger group (Geissele SSA) for the lower.

Luke built the Uzi and a few different model AKs. He hasn't been on much recently. This is my first AK-ish build. You should do the shot gun. The trigger parts from the kit are way better than the stock parts

Hey guys, im thinking about starting my gun collection now. I have shot many times before with my father and uncles. But now its time to get MY own guns.

I have to start on the cheaper end, I want a tactical shotgun probably a Mossberg Or Remington. Pistol grop with adjustable stock and 18.5" barrel. What are your suggestions?

Anyone with anything for sale PM me! Also looking for a handgun around $300-400

Got my long eye relief scope for the 94 scout today. Ncstar 2-7x32, $42 on amazon. Haven't mounted it since the rifle is at howells getting drilled and tapped for the forward mount, but I held it up and looked through it and was shocked st the clarity for the price. Now to get everything together and get it zeroed in

You'll like either the Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. I got mine new at $320. Mine is non-tactical but its black. I like shooting clays so for now I'm leaving it alone. Handguns will have to be tested by you personally. Go to the gun shops and handle a lot of them, talk to the guys, find what you like.

I'LL be shooting ours (finally) this weekend on the Mosin. Hopefully it stands up to 7.62x54R.

Me and a co-worker made this last week.

230 Grain FMJ .45ACP ~25 feet away. Kept knocking it over, had planned to bury it in the snow. The snow was lacking.

Called about my rifle yesterday hoping it'd be done since it's a simple job, gunsmith cut out early, today he didn't even show up for work. This is my enthused face........

Cool target Muddy! Too bad it kept falling down. Looks rugged. I like the 'ping' that style makes when you shoot it.

Matt, I was at Howells today. They were using your Winchester to hammer in tent stakes into the frozen ground. I was like "glad that aint my rifle!"
