das GL!

Butt starter-dyno ftw.

Wanna do mine?

Also, I found that Mazda thread last week

.

If you pay me I'll rip your starter apart, clean it out, and rebuild it with new contacts and everything.

I had to use hammer and chisel to get some of it apart, and after cleaning it all out it just slid back together with no effort at all

Are all the joints in good shape? Mileage?

I'm still thinking very strongly about rebuilding mine so it's something I don't have to worry about again for a really long time.

92, xxx, good shape. Yours would only be the second have seen fail. If you want it, I'm sure we can work something out, and it's not like they are hard to change

Really only the 2nd? Huh, from the talk on USMB it seemed they failed more common than that. Mine's definitely past it's prime though. The joints are all very gritty and clunky moving them by hand. I should have assumed you grabbed the driveshaft from that parts loyale...

Do you think it's worth rebuilding with the replacement joints from rockford? I'd never have to think about it again and the USMB guys think it's a good idea...

This would be cheaper and easier though...

It's completely up to you. I personally would just swap in another if I had it, you could do this for now, and then if need be, change the joints out down the road.

I now have an ej22 to go along with that spaghetti above

I'm gonna make a run-in stand to test it out, but ultimately before I install it I'm going to do at least torque grind cams, maybe some porting and polishing.

I'm excited that the parts are starting to come together!

My dream for this car is nearing a reality every day!

Also, I almost forgot to mention, I got some OBS seats for a wicked steal

Thanks Gabe! You da man! If I have time this weekend the welder and sawzall is coming out and they're going in!

I probably won't though... Meeting all morning Sat, drive Sun, and my server has been hacked and barely running right now, so Sat afternoon I'll probably be giving it a new life.

I got the engine home!! For now it's just sitting in the back of my garage with a tarp over it to keep saw dust off. But it isn't forgotten about!! In the next few weeks I'll be working on getting the harness stripped down, engine cleaned up, and making a run-in stand to do a test start. If she runs nice she's under he knife for torque grind cams, timing belt, etc. If there's bottom end trouble I'll have a lot of learning ahead of me!

I was surprised at how light the engine is, last engine I was working on was a steel block V6....

On my trailer in my garage waiting for someone to get home and help me lift it off.

So I took the harness out to the garage for a meet and greet with the engine. And they don't seem they match... The engine harness plugs don't fit together. That could be an issue. haha......

i thought of that after you left the other day the motor is a phase 1 but the harness is a phase 2 so if you want you can come and pull the harness from the impreza when you get a chance

how do you know people put 2.2L in place of 2.5l and they don't change the harness to put it in so i assume they are the same harness and brain

I put the driver's side OBS seat in my car today! It's awesome!! I didn't do the passenger's yet though... I was just starting to grind the mounts off the old seat and my cutting disk literally blew up and almost went through my safety glasses!!! I don't have any more grinding disks though, so I'll just do the passenger's side some other time.
