SiF Motorsports. A shitty legacy, nearly 10 years of RS racing turned rally car. Bonus jeep and mustnag junk

Get to pick up the RS next weekend. Not happy with how long it is taking.

Still need to figure out how the HUG I'm going to mount those seats. Then rallycross on Feb 2nd.

Did some stuff yesterday

Ripped out the rear axle and suspension. It looks bent after staring at it for a while.

Pushed the dead shell into the yard then drug it to its final resting place for a while. Used some very aggressive pushing with the plow jeep.

Shell #2 in front of Car #3.

Dad also managed to pick up this sick chop saw from a sears closeout sales.

Going to use it to do some sweet fabrication. For NEFR, I'm going to tuck my exhaust up so it gets hit less, this will come in handy. I think I'm going to sell my stock axle and run a 30 dollar ebay fartcan year round except for inspections and real rally.

Also decided on Slow is Fast Motorsports. Lame. But it'll do. Sis is working on a logo. I can get some shirts printed once that is done.

Things are coming together.

As for the legacy, changed out the dash bulbs for red LED's. I had been toying with the idea of lowering it, but after nearly high centring it in Portland after the snow storms, nope. I have an extra set of tail lights so I may do a very very very light nightshade on them. Also need to replace an axle or two. Did better than the twofiddy driving through the snowy compound though. The auto is also awful for hooning since it goes 50/50 whenever it damn well pleases. No consistency = bad for hooning.

Eh, probably not. While it's cheap and easy to do, the auto works fine and I'm saving for race car + house / shop. The less I mess with the legacy and keep it a boring DD the better, despite my urge not to.

New pics from cage guy. Going to pick it up this afternoon. (road trip time)

For better or worse here's what it is:

I'll take more pics when I get it home. Asked for the front to be tied into the strut, but I'll probably throw in an extra bar and some plating like I've seen on Last Ditch Racings over engineered car.

Who are you and what have you done with Dan?

Congrats on the cage!

Plating the top of shock towers will pay dividends when you bottom out susp travel on yumps and when smacking into dips and water bars while tooling thru the woods at top of 3rd gear.

BTW, what's yer plan for struts on teh race car?

Plating the strut towers is definitely in the works. I wanna jump this thing for the crowd.

Also, no idea what I'm doing for suspension. Tax return is going towards that. Open to recommendations.

You can probably find DMS 50mm for decent price used, then rebuild em. Make sure the ears where strut bolts go ain't cracked, and that the strut bodies ain't um, violently realigned.

another job that's key for a rally car is pin stands in the rockers. you will find that time is so tight for service, that the time saved with pin stands more than makes up for hassle/expense of adding them to the original build. big safety factor too, since pickup/volunteer service crews usually involve ppl with varying degrees of experience...and when they're rushed, it's good to know that just plugging in the jackstands is safe and solid, as opposed to balancing the car on tippy normal stands. I have witnessed cars teeter off regular stands, and have to get 8 guys run from all around to pull the car up off a guy underneath. Pin stands also a big safety factor when the ground is less than perfectly level, too.

as a purely budget thing, you can get two sets of the XYZ or Ksport struts and actually have spares for the same price as the DMS'. They aren't as good, but they are a hell of a lot better than off the shelf struts. TRS ran them on the GC, and have them on the Open Lite GD now.

I get to ride shot gun on the 2nd in this beast

I get to see it up close.
