The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

I don't really enjoy the ride to work all that much, but the ride home is the best.
Mine's the opposite. I have to go UP mountain road in Falmouth after work

that sucks!

My new planet bike freddy fenders arrived today... gotta slap 'em on tonite cuz I may need 'em if it's raining tomorrow!

I don't know what it's worth, but literally right across the street from my office window (small, tiny, secluded office park) is Mavic. Is this a pretty well known company? They manufacture parts & accessories for bikes.

I think that's worth a boner. Mavic makes high end road and mountain components (including wheels). I'm using their crossmax enduro wheels on the mountain bike, and kryseliums on my road bike. Very nice!

Any chance you'd hit them up for swag?!

I have two sets of Mavic wheels myself! An original set of Crosslands (hubs are still awesome!! replaced teh rims a few times over the years) and I have a set of Aksium wheels on the road bike.

I love 'em! I'd be doing my best to get the job across the street! SWAG!!! WOOT!!!

Ha ha... no chance at SWAG guys... seperate building, no cafeteria or starbucks to meet anyone that works there...

But if I ever get in the door, you'd be the second to know. First being me.

Mint! Nice commuter!

Good to see that your rolfs still work. Did you have to replace the freehub body? I went through two on my Urracos. Not to mention endless spokes....

I've had no issues with the Rolf wheels... they've been pretty bombproof. Only incident I've had with 'em was when I was running 1st place in a Cyclocross race and I was lapping this dude... called out "On your left!!" so what's the dude do as i'm passing? Goes left and stops! WTF. Plowed right into him, bent the rim, bent the derailleur hanger... game over... DNF.

The set on my mountain bike seemed to attract sticks. I probably had 2-3 times that one jammed between the wheel and the frame. The freehub body thing seemed to be a manufacturing fluke- both my buddy and I had challenges with them. They may have been fixed.

I had spokes shear off in them on a couple of occasions too. Not fatal since I run discs, but very annoying. Enough so that I eventually dumped them.

Camden Race this weekend. Anyone going?!

My Rolfs are old... I can't remember when I bought the bike but I think it's a 2000 model year. It's when I was still riding for a shop, racing, and buying new bikes all the time. Damn... I miss those days.

So on the way home yesterday I was waiting at the light by the Veterans Bridge waiting to cross over onto Commercial street. I saw a white Foz w/ a trailer make the turn. When the light turned green for me I started pedaling... made it down... did a lil U turn to get up onto the Casco Bay Bridge then picked up the ET to cruise down to Elm Street. So as I came off the ET onto Elm, the white Foz w/ the trailer went by. So... it took the same amount of time to drive as it did to ride! Sweet!

And this morning on the way in I found it ironic that was was drafting off of an semi hauling oil.
