The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

I'm entering next year. Told the wife, and she's excited. Now I need some other STMers to join in.
Lets do beer/race. Do a lap, drink a beer. another lap, drink two beers, etc.. The ebst thing about that would be the training. :headbang:

If you're gonna do it, sign up as a 2 person or 3 person team... unless you want big gaps between laps. I liked the 3 person but next year I might do 2... more challenging. I figure that a 2 person team would do 4 to 5 laps each rider unless you're haulin arse.

Start training now!

That was my thought too. 4 person left too much time between laps. 2 person FTW!

How about a mid-October STM mini-race at BBury followed by a meet at Bucks? Winner buys the first round.

I'm in, but would have to do it during a non "wifey travel" day. Puppums isn't up to speed yet for serious trail running (plus I haven't gotten him the doggie boots yet).

STM race at Bradbury. I like that idea. But I would need to get out and ride up there a few times, as I am not familiar with the trails at all. Only a been up there a few times...

Set a date, mid OCT might work. 2-3 hour race???

I could do a little "race", er, ride up there again once my arse heals. HAha! Mid october is cool. I'll be riding Weds, Thurs, Fri & Sat down in PA. Just dropped my 2 sets of lights off at the UPS store so I can do a night ride when I'm there. Should be a hoot but unfortunately my dad's new Ti 29er was delayed and won't be there when i'm there so no 29er riding for me.

Results have been posted... So my team came in 11th/13. One duo team did 13 laps! Damn! I want to know what kinda bike shorts they wear.

2 to 3 hour? Hmmm... might be tuff riding at full tilt unless you throw in the mountain side too.

You ready, MB? How are the lap times looking?

Waiting on MRI results (9.29). ARRRGH
Ted, is that _september 29_? Two weeks for results? Yikes.

Welcome to the geriatric ward, by the way. It's gettin' overweight in here...

Make sure you kick down to light beer.

Yeah, they couldn't get me into the MRI for like a week. I got in earlier, but then the doc was booked. :BangHead:

Definitely getting old...

Old fart...

I just got back from Pittsburgh in time for the hurricane. Went riding weds, thurs & fri on my dad's Specialized Epic. Oh how I wish I had that at the B12. So all my riding at the B12 and in Pittsburgh, from Friday to Friday I figure I put in just about 100 miles on the mountain bike. That's a new record for me.

That's awesome! Definitely a lot of riding. The mile don't quite rack up like they do on the road.

Speaking of: doc says time to spool back up to regular activity. Anyone up for a short road ride this week? I'll be in Dallas for the weekend- otherwise interested in getting out for the last couple of weeks before winter closes in. Night rides?

Count me in for night rides as soon as my lights get here from Pittsburgh. I'd be up for a road ride too this week... I can't do tonight and Thurs is the STM meet at Bucks. Lemme know!

My folks are coming into town next weekend and my dad is bringing his new Lynskey Performance Ti 29er and he'll be up for some night (and day) rides too.

Somehow I doubt Bradbury will be open by next weekend with all the rain we got. Probably have to wait till the ground freezes to ride there again.

We could go drag him around congin. Dry and vertical! Good for the exercising....

Yes...lights...need to reacquire those. Off to Dallas later in the week, so let's shoot for early next..

Bradbury is open! woot!

Rode last night... a friend came into town for work and we didn't leave the house till 5:30p to ride Robinson Woods. Good thing my lights arrived from Pittsburgh because I had just enough time to slap 'em on the handlebars... really start to need lights in the woods after 6p. Thankfully the batteries had enough juice in 'em too... Wish I had time to put the headlamp on because it's really hard to pick out the trail in some spots with just a handlebar light.

Ted - when are you back on the bike???

Need to invest in some lights at some point. But first off bike is on need of some work. Skipping gears like crazy, headset is feeling loose. Almost time to starting buying new parts and seeing who wants to put them on.. Bike Garage Days in the winter.. Anyone?

I'm up for a bike garage day this winter. I need to tear down my MTB and clean everything, recable, etc.

Anyone have a propane or K1 heater that we can throw in my uninsulated garage while we're working in there?

I am sure I know someone that has one. Would like to do it though. Don't know a lot, but would like to learn. Bike will always need soemthing, cause I can not afford a new bike every 3-4 years. I like the one I have, and want to maintain it. Maybe I will call Gorham Bike, and see what they can get me for deals... Wait, they won't return my calls.... :laughing1: :laughing1:

If you want to get it up and running in a jiffy just take it down to Back Bay Bikes and have them do a tune-up on it. Probably don't need more than a derailleur adjustment & the headset tightened.
