The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

Yay!! I get a new rear derailleur, two new spokes, possibly a new chain, and cassette while I'm at it! Yay!

Just kidding - sucked up a stick into the rear works in Bradbury today, thereby extending my streak of "nothing good ever happening to me on 'O' trail".

Good news, guy at Bean's says he can hook me up for ~$50 out the door. We'll see.

Oh, and by the way - having a GPS on the handlebars saved me about .75mi worth of walking back on the trail. I just picked up the pig and beelined it back to my car.

Haha! Once you get on teh Ginn trail there are "You are Here" maps posted along the trail. We rode yesterday and it was killer. Heading back up today... which is why i'm online so I can look up SID air pressures settings...

Jimbo - we passed you when we were heading home... grey outback w/ 4 bikes hanging off the back... how long did it take you to get into the bradbury parking lot? That place was jammed!!! It was fun trying to get out of the parking space w/ the trailer hitch rack on & 4 bikes. EEch!

Took me ten minutes to get into the park yesterday - sitting in line to roll up to the hut, only to have them look at the pass and say "oh - if you don't mind parking over at the campground..."

In other news, parking at the campground rules. I backed right into the site next to the park host, got ready at a picnic table, and rolled right onto the trails.

I also am going up today. I'll go grab the pig at Bean's in a while, and go up from there.

Glad the trails were sweet up there. I was planning to make it up over the weekend, but we ended up adopting a dog instead. 2 year old chocolate lab. I'll bring him out once we all get used to each other (and once he gets in a bit better shape)

Bradbury was a zoo yesterday too. I think we finished up on the trails around noon and it was jammed. Parked all along the road. The side trail off Lanzo was awesome. A bit hard to follow with all the leaves but it was a good ride.

Yeah, I went up there Friday. It looked like it was going to set up nicely.

Not many more days left before the snow flies!

Not many more days before studded tires come into play...

Has anyone dealt with National Ski & Bike in Freeport? I need to get my '00 Rockshox SID rebuilt and they seemed pretty reasonable on price.

I'm going to try to get some riding in over Thanksgiving weekend...in the Bangor/Orono area. A buddy of mine lives in Orono and rides a bunch up there. I'll post up when I know more, but I'm thinking it'll be next Saturday (11/29).

Sometimes it HELPS to be built less like a gazelle and more like a sea lion

If you fall, it will still hurt. :laughing1: Ground will be close to freezing. Or just don't take diggers. I would actually love to ride this time of year, but I would need to invest in a lot of gear, and that is not in the budget this year.

Essex Woods is great up there. Enjoy.

I think i'm gonna try to get out this weekend. Maybe head up to Bradbury if time permits or just do Robinson Woods. I'd REALLY like to hit Bradbury though.
