The unofficial GUN talk thread

I'm contemplating buying a howitzer for my front lawn, the squirrels are REALLY pissing me off.

...So, Czech, Russian, or US surplus?

just get a 10/22 with a drum mag. or get the $500 gatling gun .22lr gun. That thing is stupid awesome.

i just acquired another couple cool old guns from my grandfather. wicked old mossberg semi-auto, tube feed through the stock (not the forend) and wood almost all the way to the muzzle.

and some name brand i forgot, but says made for them by ithaca, side by side 12ga with 2 triggers. if my dad wasn't hunting behind the house i'd've made some noise. but i guess i can wait till tomorrow

Hey guys Barb wants to sell her Ruger 10/22, it has a scope and is in new condition. I can get pics later if needed but she needs to sell it the motor just went in her Maxima.

how old is the 10/22? pics would be great... I've been missing my old ruger, might be time to get another one.

Dear Dan, I've got a very old custom built 30-6 that'll spin you around and plant on your butt that needs to be shot.....she's all yours!!!!

^ got one of them, and just put 25 through the 12ga my grandfather gave me trying to shoot skeet. my shoulder feels like it's going to fall off

if you were down this way dan i'd say come over

I was sorta joking, but if you guys are serious about letting me come over and shoot your guns, I'm down. I'll buy whoever a beer at the next meet or something.

Does KTP carry a lot of 303 brittish? I'm shooting the Battle of the Bulge in Scarborough and I need a ton of 303. Preferably fmj.

Also, need a mkIII rear sight for 303 Enfield. Mine is the Savage built Enfield mk4 with the 300/600 rear sight and I have to aim 4ft below the 100yard target to hit it. Anybody have one I can buy or borrow?

inski, hows that 303 shoot? I've never had one, but always make sure I pick them up and play with them at the fun shops... maybe I should just get one? the prices aren't bad right now... they are wicked cool looking. I almost ended up with an eddystone last year that my uncle bought as an unissued, still packed in cosmo back in 1960! But he sold it to cabelas instead of calling me first!!! grrrr...

Mine the the less desirable model, the ones marked with 'US PROPERTY' are late WW2. Enfield contracted Savage in 1944 because they couldn't build enough to supply their troops. Savage made them quicker by only doing 2 groove barrels (from 6) and a simpler rear sight. Besides that the quality is the same or better. I'm getting decent groups at 100 yards but the rear sight is set up for only 300 or 600 yards, that's why I'm looking for the mkIII rear sight. It will bolt right up and has way more adjustability.

Shooting it is fun. Definitely a lot less punishment than the Mosin Nagant. Bolt action is wicked smooth, safety operation is simple and easy. I am still in the process of sighting it in. Ran out of ammo, imagine that.

My only gripe is the rear sight, and the magazine pops down occasionally so I just top load it and it pops out less. I think the magazine problem is just a wear and tear issue, I have to bend the catch or sharpen the catch edge.
