The unofficial GUN talk thread

Didn't have any M&P 45's on hand (they're backordered, but he said that they're trying to get a few in). The PPQ did follow me home though. Trigger pull is soooo much smoother than my P99.

Plan on joining Androscogin Fish & Game prior to winter. I live less then 5 mins drive to it.

I should. I drive right by it twice a day.
Same with me. Looks like they're doing some refinishing in there. I go on their site once in awhile. People say the plate shooting during winter is a blast. I have to find a place with an ultra long rifle range. At least 300 yards, Skeet/Trap, and pistol. I know Augusta and Scarborough have the long ranges, but them two are a lonnnng hikes for me.

My oldest son just got his second firearm. A new Ruger 10/22 w/scope package. ANd he got a ruger 25rd mag with it. A lot sexier than the Butler Creek mags. Pretty much the same lay out though. With the wood stock its a lot cooler looking than my syn/stainless 10/22. Look out wabbits!

Hogue toilet seat haha!

Congrats Ty! The articles I've read on the PPQ say its a wonderful piece and they finally did the trigger right. The p99 mags should work.

FYI most places now have target shotgun ammo for cheap $$ right now. Wal-mart, KTP, ect. I have to keep an eye out for cheap clays now.

Eh, stepped down to a 9mm with the PPQ. It was "used" over at Howells. Apparently one of their regulars likes to buy guns, and then anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks later, bring them back to trade in because he changed his mind.

I couldn't really see any wear on it...he couldn't have put more than a mag through it. They even gave me the blackhawk paddle holster and mag loader that he traded in with the gun too.

Mini-14 (.223)

Mini-30 (AK47 ammo)

Ruger PC9 (9mm)

Bennelli CX4 (9mm)

Ruger 10/22 (22LR)

Keltec 9mm

Hi-point 9mm carbine

Uzi (9mm)

M&P22 (AR that shoots .22)

M1 Carbine .30cal replicas start at $300+ for earlier Iver Johnsons and Universals. Current replicas are $800 plus. US surplus is $900+. Ammo is pricey.

Also, there are ARs out there starting at $600 new. This pretty much kills my need/desire for a Mini. ARs just fit me better, plus theres TONS for crap you can do to an AR (see Nate's)

I've tried a Mini-14, loved it.

I've tried the Keltec, didn't like it too much, awkward cheek position, less than confident bolt lock up.

I've tried the Hi-point carbine, loved it albeit heavier than you'd think it should be.

Uzi is not my thing.

Anything AR, even the AR 22s are very close to being ergonomically perfect.

Ok, so I've kinda been looking for the same thing. I've decided on the Hi-Point or Ruger PC9 or Benelli. The Hi-point is cheap (under 300 for a package deal), yet the Ruger will never lose its value. Benelli is stupid money. F-that! I also have the Ruger p-series pistol mags which also fit the PC9 carbine. The problem is the PC9 is usually around $500-$600, making the Hi-Point very attractive. There are stocks available for the Hi-point that make it look like the Benelli. 9mm is cheap, 9mm guns are not unless you get the Keltec or Hi-point.

We have been hearing shots almost every-night too. Weird.

This is a forum for (some) organized competitions in Maine, mostly High Power, Pistol, and 3gun. If you have questions these guys will find you answers. The old Maine3Gun site has been abandoned.

I really like the 45. Recoil is far less than what I was expecting. I think I'll stop buying handguns once I have a different carry gun for every day of the week. Hmm... Five Seven...
