so I've been contemplating...I want to get a pistol on a budget(I.e. CHEAP) looking at 9mm, what do you guys suggest?
thanks nate. I'm looking for home protection and weekend shooting. We qualify with the "M9" for the air force, not sure what brand it is, but it's easy to shoot and maintain/clean. something comparable to that.Don't buy one cheap, just to buy cheap. Remember, you get what you pay for. Save you pennies for a little bit, and make the investment. What are you buying it for? Carry? home protection? Weekend fun shooting? All those will factor into your choice. Just saying: "I want a 9mm. What should I get?" Is like saying: "I want black shoes. What should I buy?"

No... I never have. I mean I'm sure we could figure it out. Look up a "how to" on Youtube. Or work slow and pay attention of how it all comes apart. Don't just rip and tear. You'll never remember how all the parts go back together. You ever tinker with gsg -5 ? I want to replace all screws but think its over my head I did order hk pins to replace all outer screws
I hate to disagree with you here. But if he knows the thing inside and out, can strip and asseble blindfolded; it is perfect for him to start. They don't lose value like some of the newer stuff.Berretta M9... Not a bad gun. But there are better choices. You could always try to find a M9 if that's what your are comfortable with.
Ideally what is your budget? I typically try to steer folks towards the Polymer guns. Most brands have one. Glock, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory all offer guns in 9mm, .40S&W, and in different frame sizes. All those guns NEW will run you around $500. They are easy to maintain, shoot, are reliable, and simple to operate. You just need to find the one that fit your hand best. I like Glock, but that's me. Some hate the Glock grip angle.
I don't have one myself but I've shot my fathers .357 Taurus a bit with just .38spl. I would much rather shoot my brothers 5" barrel version. So, who all has a snubbie?
