Oh no pat has a subie!!!

Just found this, don't know if you were considering a grill or not, or if you can make this one fit.

edit: the links don't stand out from the normal text...

here's the link in case you can't find the one hidden in the above text

yeah the jdm grill for my car is about $100 shipped... I am not sure yet tho since I have a 96 Outback as a parts car (entire car bad hg...) I am gonna throw a Outback bumper on and if I like it keep it, if not get the gt front end.

I have done tons of searching and cant find a damn thing... all i get when I search are threads with people asking and mods saying to use the search function on every forum (nasioc, sl-i, legacy central, legacygt etc)

Anyone know if I can use a set of coilovers for an 02 wrx just bolt on and go if the wrx springs dont give me the right drop??? They come with camberplates on the top. Godspeed coilovers (i can get them new for 500 shipped).

GClark: Searchmeister.

One of the large Subaru forums needs to have charts of models/years and parts that fit it from other years. There's one for sway bars.

Thanks man... I am having trouble with the springs basically... I dont know if I need the top hats. I will search today. Good to know the coilovers fit!

That style legacy has always looked good to me, they are pretty smooth and clean lined imo. Im liking the gold wheels for it.

So after reading a little bit I think... (there really is nothing on the 95 its all 91-94 and 97-99) the 02 WRX springs fit the stock structs and top hats.

I was really sick yesterday so no one came over to finish up the work... hopefully today Ben can get the new tires mounted, take the measurements for some things, finish up body work.

the struts should fit. sti ones fit eric's 96 legacy
Its not the struts... I know they fit...

I am trying to see if the stock struts from the lego and stock tophats will work with the WRX springs... It makes no sense for me to spend $80 per top hat and still need a few things here and there to use the wrx springs if they wont work with the stock stuff (and I still might need two new rear struts, so it would be about $320 plus the struts and other parts about another $150)... When I can buy coilovers for $500 shipped...

Jim offered me a pretty sweet deal on some stock rex wheels so I am going to take the car on a long drive today and tomorrow and make sure its worth putting money into.. If it is then I will be getting some interesting things done this weekend.

Well I drove it tonight and it seems to go alright...

It had no noise when I bought it but I had the oil changed to 10w30 High Mileage but before the change ran 1/3 bottle of Marv Mistery Oil. Drove it after the change and it sounded fine... Drove it today to my friends house and it sounded fine. When I started it at 9:30pm tonight it had a tick tick tick coming from the Drivers side (got louder when I pulled the dip stick.) It went away in 5mins and was fine when I stopped on 15mins down the road (no more noise). I drove another 10 mins and parked it (left it running) When I checked it again it was ticking (not as loud).

I assume that this is a sticking lifter. Should I bother changing it if it only happends when cold ? Or should I just drain the oil and put some 5w30??? Or add Lucas(always used it before and it fixed slight ticks).

What are the chances that it is rod knock if the drained oil was FREE of dustings???

I wanted to get this cleared up because I was planning on ordering the coilovers and rims for the car and now I dont want to spend the 2k on it if its going to blow the motor in a few thousand miles (highly doubt it but ya never know).

I don't know Pat, you have more experience with this sort of thing than me by a long shot, but I'm tempted to agree with Bratman for a few reasons. One, it doesn't sound too bad and may be cleared up with better oil. Two, what's stopping you from either reusing the coilovers on another car or buying another cheap car for the engine (if your chassis is rust free that is)?

I dont think the engine is bad... I am pretty sure it is just a sticking lifter or the timing tensioner. The only thing that would worry me is if it was rod knock which i dont think it is.

I feel that this car is prob worth 1500- 2k max... so I dont want to put more then that into it.

I want to get wheels $300, coilovers $500, new brake pads and front rotors 150-200, and swaybars $200. that's about 1200 and leves me with a lil room if something fails.

The whole point with this car is to be able to sell if for more then I paid and have into it and I wanted to still have some cash left over to get a few "toys" for myself from selling my truck.

Ok so I parked it in the garage over night (about 45deg inside it) and just let it run for about 20 mins... Not one tick, it sounds like a brand new subie... just like when I bought it. I am wondering if the MMO knocked something free lol (i ran 1/3 in gas/ 1/3 in air/ 1/3 in oil and change oil after running for and 30 mins). That was a few days ago that it was done.

Must just be a cold thing or something or like i said the mmo.
